What is barre? We hear that from time to time, but since barre is becoming more and more known we're seeing fewer blank stares when we tell people we do "barre". Combining yoga, Pilates and ballet, barre is a low-impact, energizing, and effective workout suitable for anyone.
Barre is a fun way to tone and define muscles, and get a tighter, rounder tush. Through isometric movements (contracting specific muscles while keeping everything else still), it builds long, lean muscle while improving posture, grace and flexibility. So yes, Barre Body classes are effective – but because they are choreographed to great music and take place in a motivating group environment, the workout doesn’t feel like ‘work.’
It’s the perfect combination. Barre takes the focus and individual practice of yoga, blends it with the isometric movements of Pilates and wraps it all up in the choreography and grace of dance.
