“I would recommend it to anyone who feels they would like to up their barre game, whether they want to teach in the future or not.” – CC

“Emma knows her stuff! I love having the material to apply to my practice. A strong foundation makes for responsible and functional participation moving forward in barre as a participant and possibly an instructor. I learned what my body is capable of.” - LB

Level I & Level II trainings are both self-led programs with a few live streamed scheduled classes throughout the program(s). All participants will have continuous access to BBS Director of Training, Emma Cook.

Many participants start by taking Level I training as a gateway to enhance their knowledge of barre, anatomy and movement. Level I training is geared to immediately take your own personal practice to the next level. Other participants choose to dive right into both Level I and Level II training knowing exactly what their end goal is: to become a highly trained and sought-after barre instructor. We’ve created the training program so that participants have the option to take L1 as a standalone offering or L1 and L2 combined.

Level I Foundational Training

+ Level II Instructor Training

Programs Overview

BBS’ Level I Foundational Training is geared to help you take your own personal commitment to barre and movement to the next level. You will learn what makes the BBS method so effective and how to turn that into a kickass class, either as a participant or an instructor. This training will focus on form, anatomy and how to make the mind-body connection in order for you to reap the most out of your barre practice. This program is for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of barre and mindful movement. It also serves as our Level 1 Instructor Training program and is a pre-requisite to our Level II Instructor Training course.

BBS’ Level II Instructor Training is a comprehensive course that will teach you how to become a strong fitness leader. This course will reveal to you how to get everything that you learned in the Level I Foundational Training across in a group fitness setting. You will learn how to build your class and polish your instructing skills including musicality, cueing, and sequencing a fitness class.

All participants can do both Level I and Level II at their own pace and will have access to ask DOT Emma C questions throughout the 6-month duration, as well as the private Facebook group to connect with other trainees.

Emma’s love for movement started as a young girl when she took gymnastics, diving, synchronized swimming and ballet classes. After falling in love Pilates, she obtained STOTT Pilates Full Comprehensive certification in 2006 and taught Pilates classes while completing her diploma program to become a Registered Respiratory Therapist in 2010.

Hear what past participants have to say!

“The training meet my needs as it was very thorough. I feel very prepared to come up with an audition and feel like I have the tools needed to effectively teach a class. The manuals are great to refer back to!” - CJ

“I loved how physical it was, actually trying exercises and feeling the difference was awesome. Emma is the best. She explained things in such a clear way. Plus, the manual is beautiful and super easy to follow! Oh, and I loved the anatomy – so helpful.” - LL

"Taking Level 1 training reinvigorated my practice. Going into it, I was so confident in my abilities, but what surprised me after was how much more intense my workouts got once I knew how to engage my core. Being in proper alignment has tightened everything up. I've seen results much faster, and I feel so incredibly strong.” -  PD

“I absolutely loved the BBS Level 1 Foundational Training course. With a strong focus on the Pillars of Movement, the training has enhanced my participation tremendously and the knowledge has added so much value to my Barre experience. I am much more present when taking class, feeling more energized in mind and body! Emma is a very motivational and inspiring leader who shows a genuine interest in our success. The positive vibe from Emma, Marlo and the BBS community is contagious! – CH

“After having taken Level I Training, my barre practice has significantly improved. My form is better in class and others have even noticed! I am using my entire body to complete my workouts and getting the most out of each class, leaving me more sore, shaky and seeing better results because I understand the cues. Emma is kind, encouraging and knowledgeable. As someone who has not taken an anatomy class in over 10 years, she is able to present material in a way that is comprehensible and engaging. I would encourage everyone to take the training and get the most of their practice. The knowledge gained is essential but the women at the studio, especially Emma, are empowering, passionate and inspirational.” – ML

“My entire practice of barre has been changed following the training. I noticed I was a lot more present in class from concentrating more on the pillars of movement, which kept me focusing on the class itself instead of external stressors. For each exercise I was able to make at least one change to the way I was moving or the muscles I was activating, which has made classes even more effective and brought an additional element of challenge back into my workouts.” - SH

“What an amazing training. It was so much fun and informative. Level I’s focus on the fundamental pillars of barre really broke the series down and helped me identify ways to maximize the effectiveness of the class, especially through emphasis on neutral spine and joint alignment. Having an increased awareness of what my body is supposed to do and feel like in each posture has not only heightened the intensity of my workout, but I feel safer knowing I can challenge myself in a mindful manner.” - KT
