We're honoured to be able to raise money and give back to local charities through our Local Charity Classes and other initiatives around the studio. When one of our own brought Greta's Guardians to us, we wanted to help as much as we could. For April, May and June, BBS will be donating to Greta's Guardians. Here's a little bit of background on Greta and her journey.
When Greta was about two years old, she was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma – an extremely rare liver cancer found in fewer than 1 million children. After several surgeries and rounds of chemotherapy, Greta was in remission. Several months later, the unthinkable happened, and Greta's cancer returned. A liver transplant was deemed to be her best option. While Canadian doctors have done everything they can to help, in this case, our system is far behind many of the large centers in the world. Greta's parents have been working with a doctor in the States who specializes in this type of childhood cancer. They are making plans to travel to the States for Greta to receive treatment, and ultimately receive a liver transplant. Of course, the costs associated with this are staggering. Every single dollar raised will help give Greta a chance at life, a chance she deserves.
Let's come together & sweat for a cause to give back to Greta and her family. For more info on Greta's Guardians, visit here.
