Why do you love Barre? It’s an alternative to the gym that’s structured but varied enough that my body doesn’t plateau. The music & personality behind the class being taught in a beautiful community is inspiring for the day to follow.

After Barre you can be found: eating on a corner or sipping Starbucks…which one who knows?! Or walking, jogging or climbing mountains with my pup Louis.

What is your guilty pleasure? Friday Night Lights forever! Clear eyes, full hearts, CAN'T LOSE. Snacks, always Snacks. Polaroid Cameras. Twister.

Do you carry anything odd with you in your purse or gym bag? A comb, for locks that can’t be tamed.


Nicole W. Wickett

Hometown: Saskatoon, SK

What is you favourite Barre Body move? Sexy hips!

After Barre you can be found: teaching ballet or taking some kind of class.

What is your guilty pleasure? Chocolate, coffee, shopping and Netflix.

What little things make you smile? Good music, "ah-ha" moments, a good latte and sexy hips!


Tara Munro

Hometown: Calgary, AB

Why do you love Barre? It's that sweet barre burn that made me fall in love; I admit, it is a love/hate relationship! It is so intense but the benefits I have seen in my muscles and the improvement in my strength and endurance makes those 'teeny-tiny-little pulses' worth every second.

What is your guilty pleasure? Red wine and chocolate are my biggest weaknesses…and peanut butter.

What is a secret talent of yours? Singing maybe? But it’s not a secret; I sing all the time! Heck, maybe I sound terrible and nobody tells me? Perhaps I simply enjoy the sound of my own voice but I do honestly love to sing.

Who inspires you to be the best version of yourself? My sisters and my momma; they are my besties and I find them hugely inspirational.

 

Chaela Houston

Hometown: Rosetown, SK

After Barre you can be found: at Starbucks and then the dance studio.

What do you want to be when you grow up? A Ballerina! ;)

What advice would you give to a first time barre guest? Stick it out. The results are so worth the burn!

What little things make you smile? Music, sparkles, bright colours, chocolate, and books.

 

Amber Brodziak

Hometown: Saskatoon, SK

Why do you love Barre? It changes your body shape and increases strength without straining or over working your body and muscles. It is by far the most effective form of exercise I have found in years of working out.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I work in adolescent mental health as a therapist. I feel so lucky that I truly love what I do. The challenge and the complexity of my career keeps me loving it! I can’t really picture doing anything else!

What little things make you smile? Sunshine and chocolate.

Do you carry anything odd with you in your purse or gym bag? Just an inappropriate amount of grip socks.

 

Megan Coonan

Hometown: Calgary, AB

What is your favourite Barre Body Move? Butt Blaster or Pelvic Thrusts.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I’ll never grow up.

What is a secret talent of yours? That I can’t keep secrets.

What barre star advice would you give to a first time barre guest? Draw on the strength from those around you and push yourself…and have fun!

Mackenzie Schurer

Hometown: Calgary

Why do you love Barre? Because it’s so accessible! I started coming to Barre as a way to rehabilitate an ankle injury, and not only did it speed up my recovery, it also provided a great workout that had felt out of reach until I was fully rehabbed.

After Barre you can be found: hanging out with my little man, walking one or all of our three dogs, or working on one of many DIYs I usually have on the go.

What do you want to be when you grow up? One day I hope to open my own décor shop.

What is your favourite quote? “Be stubborn about your goals but flexible about your methods.”

 

Crystal T. Thomson-Dick

Hometown: Calgary, AB

Why do you love Barre? I love barre because it's fun! No two classes are the same, and its a total body workout that is as challenging as you want to make it. And most importantly it gets RESULTS!!

After barre you can be found: at home playing with my kids.

What little things make you smile? Sunshine, flowers and rain.

What is your guilty pleasure? Ice Cream

Jaimie Love

Hometown: Calgary, AB

Why do you love Barre? It's a full body workout and really targets all the smaller areas of your body that other exercise doesn't. Plus it's an amazing community of fun, positive, encouraging women.

What is your favourite post workout snack? Anything and everything! I'm super hungry after a good barre burn.

What advice would you give to a first time barre guest? Breathe and don't be afraid of the shakes! 

What little things make you smile? That first sip of earl grey tea in the morning. It's best not to talk to me until that's happened. ;)

Lanette Nieboer

Hometown: Leduc, AB; however I have been in Calgary since 1998.
 
Why do you love Barre? It is a low impact activity that delivers the shakes and burns that are felt throughout the entire body!
 
Who inspires you to be the best version of yourself? My kids, the way they see the world; so innocent, so trusting, so caring, so open to everything.
 
What is your fav post workout snack? Homemade hummus and multigrain crackers, or beer.
 
What is your favourite quote or what motto do you live by? "Always ask, the worst they are going to say is no" – my Dad
The original, like a classic tote that complements every look, this one hour workout will tone and challenge all levels of fitness. This is a class you can't go wrong with. The BBF tones and blasts common problem areas through a series of strategic exercises that focus on strength and flexibility while incorporating the ballet barre. The routine keeps fitness fresh with innovative moves complementary to all levels of fitness. > Classes in studio b are smaller and may be a good fit for first timers.
