Why do you love Barre? It’s an alternative to the gym that’s structured but varied enough that my body doesn’t plateau. The music & personality behind the class being taught in a beautiful community is inspiring for the day to follow.

After Barre you can be found: eating on a corner or sipping Starbucks…which one who knows?! Or walking, jogging or climbing mountains with my pup Louis.

What is your guilty pleasure? Friday Night Lights forever! Clear eyes, full hearts, CAN'T LOSE. Snacks, always Snacks. Polaroid Cameras. Twister.

Do you carry anything odd with you in your purse or gym bag? A comb, for locks that can’t be tamed.


Amber Brodziak

Hometown: Saskatoon, SK

Why do you love Barre? It changes your body shape and increases strength without straining or over working your body and muscles. It is by far the most effective form of exercise I have found in years of working out.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I work in adolescent mental health as a therapist. I feel so lucky that I truly love what I do. The challenge and the complexity of my career keeps me loving it! I can’t really picture doing anything else!

What little things make you smile? Sunshine and chocolate.

Do you carry anything odd with you in your purse or gym bag? Just an inappropriate amount of grip socks.

 

Emma Cook

Hometown: Calgary, AB

Why do you love Barre? It is an incredible workout and so fun! I honestly never get bored of it. The fusion between Pilates, dance, strength training and awesome loud music!

What is a secret talent of yours? I carve a pretty mean pumpkin!

What is your guilty pleasure? Peanut Butter.

What little things make you smile? Cat videos. I can't get enough!

 

Ashley Goethals

Why do you love Barre? It’s fun and changes my body faster than anything else I’ve ever done.

What is a secret talent of yours? Making dream catchers!

What little things make you smile? A really good song, stepping on crunchy leaves and anything fluffy!

Do you carry anything odd with you in your purse or gym bag? I have granola bars and toesox in my purse at all times!

Amanda F. Filipchuck

Hometown: Calgary, AB

What is your favourite Barre Body move? Speed Skaters!

After Barre you can be found: at my office, which is also a music studio, which is pretty fun.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be someone who never stops seeing the beauty in others and the possibilities in life.

What is a secret talent of yours? Racquet Ball!

 

Tara Munro

Hometown: Calgary, AB

Why do you love Barre? It's that sweet barre burn that made me fall in love; I admit, it is a love/hate relationship! It is so intense but the benefits I have seen in my muscles and the improvement in my strength and endurance makes those 'teeny-tiny-little pulses' worth every second.

What is your guilty pleasure? Red wine and chocolate are my biggest weaknesses…and peanut butter.

What is a secret talent of yours? Singing maybe? But it’s not a secret; I sing all the time! Heck, maybe I sound terrible and nobody tells me? Perhaps I simply enjoy the sound of my own voice but I do honestly love to sing.

Who inspires you to be the best version of yourself? My sisters and my momma; they are my besties and I find them hugely inspirational.

 

Nicole B. Bouwman

Hometown: Calgary, AB
 
Why do you love Barre? It’s so rewarding pushing through a class, leaving knowing you worked as hard as you possibly could have, and seeing those amazing results! On top of all of that, the classes are so much fun and the community is unbelievably inspiring!
 
Who is on your playlist right now? Bastille, 30 Seconds to Mars and Banners, to name a few!
 
What do you want to be when you grow up? I am very fortunate to be working many of my dream jobs! I am a zookeeper at the Calgary Zoo by day and a dance and barre instructor by night! What could be better???
 
What is a secret talent of yours? Baking! It’s one of my favourite things to do in my downtime!
This class is designed to target all areas of the body with an emphasis on the core. Barre paired with an intense core segment and plenty of stretching, what could be better. Be prepared to strengthen, sweat, and stretch.
